Liverpool’s hopes of signing Mario Gotze entirely depends on Manchester United

This is a story which will drag long in to the summer. The plot revolves around Bayern Munich trying to sign yet another Borussia Dortmund superstar which could have severe implication on Liverpool and Manchester United’s summer transfer plans.

According to Bild, Bayern have approached Mats Hummels for a possible £23.5million summer move to Allianz Arena. Hummels has kept his options open and believes he could indeed quit Signal Iduna Park this summer.

In the same report, Bild claimed that Bayern are even willing to offer Mario Gotze back to Dortmund in order to sweeten Hummels’ deal. If that happens then the much anticipated Gotze-Klopp Anfield reunion could go for a toss.

Manchester United could turn out to be the saviors for their rivals Liverpool as they have been tracking Hummels for best part of 3 seasons now. It was believed that Hummels was very close to joining the Old Trafford giants before a change of heart last summer.

If United can somehow break a deal to bring the German World Cup winner to Premier League, it would pave the way for Liverpool to negotiate a deal for Klopp’s favorite Mario Gotze.

United are still in the market for a world class central defender with Hummels being the first choice. It would take something close to £25million to seal his transfer which would seem like a bargain given his quality on the ball.

This is one story you might want to follow throughout the summer as it promises to have too much drama attached to it.
