Deal Close – Liverpool to make shock bid for Wilfried Zaha

Eager to boost their attacking options, Liverpool are set to make a move for Crystal Palace’s in-form winger Wilfried Zaha, according to reports from The Sun.

Zaha was subject to a £20million bid from Tottenham last summer, but stayed with Palace as Spurs could not match his transfer valuation.

However, Liverpool are confident of striking a deal with Crystal Palace, who still owe The Red a £5million payment from Christian Benteke’s summer transfer.

The Sun understands Liverpool are willing to wave off the £5million payment and complete Zaha’s signing by paying £15m upfront.

Why Liverpool are chasing Zaha?

Jurgen Klopp will be without his top goal scorer Sadio Mane for as many 8 matches due to player’s involvement in the African Cup of Nations.

Although it is a matter of 8 matches but if The Reds fail to keep pace with Chelsea, they could lose ground on what it looks like a possible Premier League success this season.

Klopp wants a direct winger who can make things happen for his team and Zaha has certainly shown signs of being one of the most creative players in the league this season.

Chances of Liverpool signing Zaha – 1.5/5

Despite completing 62 take-ons this season, it looks rather unlikely that Liverpool will go after a player who is still far way from being a finished article.

Klopp would want to work with Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino rather than going after Zaha, who failed with Manchester United in his last big money move to a big team.
