Liverpool vs Manchester United is always a special game but it will be an even bigger even tonight as the big rivals meet in Europe for the first time tonight in Europa League round of 16 first leg tie.
Ahead of the massive game at Anfield, we take a look at a Liverpool vs Manchester United Combined XI comprising of all the fit and available players. James Milner, Martin Skrtel and Wayne Rooney along with the other injured stars will be the obvious absentees from the game tonight.
Liverpool vs Manchester United Combined XI
In the obvious lack of quality full-back for both the clubs right now, we have opted to go with a 3-5-2 formation for our Liverpool vs Manchester United Combined XI. David De Gea is the standout choice in goal with Chris Smalling leading the defense.
The Manchester duo are accompanied by Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren, who have been a regular for Jurgen Klopp in Skrtel’s absence. The ones to miss out in defense for our Liverpool vs Manchester United Combined XI are Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind.
Midfield:
As stated, Milner will miss the game tonight with a mysterious virus and has not trained since his red card vs Crystal Palace. In Milner’s absence, Michael Carrick is acting as the shield with Morgan Schneiderlin and Emre Can in support.
Attack:
Going forward Juan Mata and Philippe Coutinho start as the wide players who would look to feed Roberto Firmino and Anthony Martial in our Liverpool vs Manchester United Combined XI.
Martial and Firmino have been the two standout players for their teams and it will once again be a huge test for the duo to deliver a big performance tonight. Europa League may not have been the ideal platform for Liverpool and United to meet for the first time in European football, but given their recent horrors in Premier League, perhaps it is the best they deserve.
