Liverpool head to Portugal to face Portuguese giant, Porto in their first leg round of 16 champions league tie. The Reds are coming from a comfortable 2-0 away win at Saint Mary’s Park.

Jurgen Klopp will hope to get a very good result from this match to put them in a very good position for the second league at Anfield in two weeks time which means he will be putting out his best team.

Goalkeeper

Loris Karius have been in good form lately and Jurgen have given him the nod to be number one for this champions league match. If he continues this recent form, he might finally become the Reds first choice, usurping Simon Mignolet.

Defenders

Alexander Arnold have kept his place at right full back ahead of Joe Gomez same with Robertson who has become the undisputed left back. So, both should be getting the nod in Portugal. Van Dijk and Loveren have formed a partnership in the back ahead of Matip. It’s a straight fight between Loveren and Matip but it seems Klopp might favour Loveren.

Midfielders

A midfield trio have been a constant click for Liverpool in recent time but there have not been the same set of players playing all the time. Since its an away match, Klopp will start Milner, Henderson and Wijnaldum to give steel in the game. It will not be far fetch to now bring in Can or Chamberlain in the second half if more attacking options is required.

Attackers

The trident of Salah, Mane and Firmino has been in imperious form and there is hardly going to be a game any will be dropped, especially not at this crucial time except for injury. Salah has 29 goals in all completion so far and he will hope to hit the 30 goals a season mark on Wednesday night.
