According to reports from Sky Sports, Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Schalke defender Joel Matip ahead of a free transfer next summer.
Matip, 24 has come through the ranks of Schalke and will be out of contract next summer. According to Bild, German club have done everything possible to convince the defender to pen down a new deal, but the player is against it.
Daily Mirror are convinced of the agreed deal in principal and have reported that, Matip will be more than just a squad player.
Jurgen Klopp rates Matip very highly as even tried to sign the German International during his Dortmund days with no success. However, Klopp now aims to bring Matip to Anfield and finally end the injury galore to his defenders.
According to Daily Mirror, Matip will officially sign with Liverpool at the end of this season and will join his new team at the beginning of next season.
