Liverpool are now favorites to sign German International defender Jonas Hector after agreeing fee with FC Cologne for the highly rated left full-back.
Hector, 26 is Germany’s first choice left back at the moment and is dubbed as Mr. Relable by the German media. According to Bild, Liverpool will begin talks with the player next week and are expected to complete the transfer in coming days.
Hector’s agent confirmed last month about player’s willingness to join a new club and how Liverpool were the front-runners amidst Klopp’s interest in the player.
Hector’s agent said: “Cologne already reacted to Jonas’ potential transfer with the signing of Mladenovic. Upon consultation with FC Cologne we are allowed to talk to interested clubs.”
Hector played 32 games for the Bundesliga side and won fans’ player of the year award last season as well. The talented left-back is rated at £12million and will add a great degree of stability in Liverpool’s defense.
Liverpool’s woes at left back were well documented last season with Alberto Moreno struggling in key matches, including the Europa League final vs Sevilla. With Hector coming in, Klopp’s new look Liverpool will begin to take shape ahead of next season.
Chances of Hector joining Liverpool – 4/5
Klopp’s presence at Anfield and his success in Bundesliga will play a huge role in Jonas Hector signing for Liverpool this summer.
The Reds are struggling with their left back position at the moment and can do with a player like Hector, who is known for his error-free defending.
Hector will become Liverpool’s third export from Bundesliga this summer after Joel Matip and Loris Karius completed their moves to Anfield earlier in the season.
