In a drastic turn of events, Liverpool have agreed a £24.5million move for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixiera. The player was linked with Chelsea all summer.
The news has been confirmed by two of the most trusted Liverpool sources Indikyla and Liverpool Echo.
Leading Red journalist James Pearce has also confirmed that Liverpool have indeed tabled and agreed a move for Teixeira. According to Pearce, club officials will fly out to Florida later today to submit an official bid.
Liverpool agree Teixeira deal
Shakhtar Donetsk are currently participating in a friendly tournament with Teixeira’s transfer being the topic of discussion.
The 26-year old has been targeted by Chelsea all summer but as things stand, Liverpool have edged out their Premier League rival in completing this astonishing transfer.
It is believed that, Daniel Sturridge’s latest injury setback has been the real reason for Jurgen Klopp’s push to bring Teixeira at Anfield.
Teixeira is Klopp kind of a player
Klopp needs a mobile striker with pace and who can stay fit for the entire course of the season. Sturridge is never fit these days, while Christian Benteke lacks pace to be a perfect Klopp player.
Teixeira has been a man in form after scoring 22 goals in 15 league games, with 3 of those coming in 6 Champions League games.
The deal is moving very quickly as understood by Sport Witness, who have stated how the player has actually cleared the first step towards getting his Work Permit done ahead of a move later this month.
