Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma suffered a horrific knee injury during the 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Zouma suffered the injury while landing after winning an aerial duel.
The moment he landed, everyone in the stadium knew how bad his injury was. He was immediately stretchered off and was replaced by Gary Cahill.
Update on Zouma injury
Seeing the extent of his injury, it will not come as a surprise if he is out for the remaining weeks of the season. Commentators on air even claimed that he may have broken his leg.
Following the game, Guus Hiddink had an update on his star defender and the manager claimed that it is a hyper-extended injury and no one can be sure of anything until the scan reports come in.
Hiddink said: “Tomorrow we know more, but if you have this injury – and everyone has seen how bad it is – hyper-extension is always bad.
“I had this same problem once and it hurts. But let’s hope and see tomorrow what the MRIs will show.”
Zouma’s absence was a big blow as only minutes later his substitution, United scored from Jesse Lingard’s stunning strike. The goal looked enough to win the game for the away side, but Diego Costa stepped up with an equalizing goal on the 91st minute.
