Chelsea are getting ever so closer to complete a deal for Napoli’s central defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to player’s agent Bruno Satin.
Latest reports from The Times suggest that Satin has set a 48-72 hours deadline for Koulibaly’s future to be resolved with Chelsea certain to get their man.
Speaking with Goal.com, Satin said: “Our discussions at the moment are confidential. We will be able to announce something in the next few days, two or three days.”
Blues have seen two of their formal bids being turned down by Napoli in last 2-3 weeks however, Antonio Conte is keen to bring Koulibaly at Stamford Bridge at all cost.
The 25-year-old defender is valued at £45million by Napoli and Chelsea are confident of agreeing a deal with Serie A giants in coming few days.
One reason for the delay has been seen Napoli’s incapability of signing Koulibaly’s replacement. Chelsea are aware of their strong position in Koulibaly’s negotiation and that is why they have not pressed ahead with their interest in Sunderland’s Lamine Kone.
According to BBC, Everton are set to complete an £18m deal for Kone despite Chelsea’s initial approach. Toffees also signed Ashley Williams from Swansea last night on a 3-year deal.
Conte wants Koulibaly to lead his defense and his patience will be paid off after player’s agent confirmed that a concrete ground will be reached in coming few days over the defender’s move to Premier League.
When signed, Koulibaly will be Chelsea’s most expensive defensive signing of all time beating the previous record of Ricardo Carvalho’s €30m arrival from FC Porto back in 2004/05 season.
