Nigerian wonder-kid Kelechi Nwakali has revealed that he has signed a 5-year contract with Arsenal and will join the club next season. The 17-year old has been linked with the Gunners ever since his outstanding performance at the U-17 World Cup last year.

Kelechi Nwakali was named player of the tournament and has drawn interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. However, Arsenal were quick to contact his current club Diamon Football Academy and strike a deal which could rise up to 3million in coming time.

Kelechi Nwakali confirmed the news while speaking with the media after returning from London. According to Daily MailNwakali said: “I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal.

“So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal.”

Kelechi Nwakali will be the second Nigeria player at The Emirates after Alex Iwobi, who has played 11 times for Arsenal this season. The player will turn 18 next summer and will be eligible to join Arsenal as a member of the senior squad.

Kelechi Nwakali is technically gifted box-to-box midfield player who had an eye for goal. His exploits helped Nigeria to lift the U-17 World Cup last year and would hope to have a similar impact for the Gunners when he joins them next season.
