Chelsea are keen on signing Leicester City midfield star N’Golo Kante after deciding to trigger the £20million release clause in his contract.

Kante had an outstanding 2015/16 season where he was the bedrock of Leicester’s midfield, and led his team to the Premier League title.

As expected, teams have queued up to sign the French International star with PSG and Arsenal interested in the player as well. However, Chelsea have been made the favorites after Blues are ready to triple his current wage at King Power.

As per the reports from ESPN, Chelsea are ready to offer Kante wages in excess of £100,000 per week and give him a 5-year deal. The popular belief around Leicester City is that Kante will indeed leave King Power this summer, but he is still assessing his options.

Can PSG be a factor?

Kante’s family still lives in France which is seen as one of the key reasons to why he is considering PSG’s offer very seriously. There are no points for guessing that PSG can pay him well but the feel of moving back to France does lure Kante and it could be a stumbling block for Chelsea.

Kante’s arrival could end Nainggolan chase

Chelsea and Radja Nainggolan have no desires to keep their transfer talks a secret. While Blues are constantly in AS Roma’s ears, the Belgian midfielder is talking more about his transfer to Chelsea in recent interviews than his Euro 2016 campaign.

Perhaps Roma’s unwillingness to sell their prized asset has seen Chelsea switch their target to N’Golo Kante as they look to trigger his release clause.

A decision is expected to be made sometime this week which would give us better clarity in to Kante’s future and where he will play his football next season.
