Jose Mourinho’s future continues to be the centre of all attraction amid constant rumours linking him with the Manchester United job next season. However, he will be seen in the Old Trafford dugout later this year managing for the Soccer Aid match.
Mourinho will take charge of England at the Soccer Aid match against the World XI at Old Trafford. This special match will be played on June 5, 2016 to raises money for Unicef.
Mourinho’s opponent will be Claudio Ranieri, who will manage the World XI after achieving great feats with Leicester this season.
This will be Mourinho’s first real taste of being at Old Trafford since being heavily linked to be the next Manchester United manager.
Jose will be in the Old Trafford dugout on June 5, and he sounded quite upbeat about the prospects. Jose will be accompanied by Sam Allardyce to lead England’s team against the World XI.
Sharing his delight on the matter, Mourinho said: “I want to be the first one to win the Soccer Aid trophy for both teams, England and the Rest of the World,” said Mourinho, who coached the Rest of the World to a 4-2 victory in the 2014 event.
“Sam and I will make a very good partnership and it will be a great feeling for Claudio to finally lose a match!
“I hope the organisers can help me now with an English passport!”
Ranieri was thrilled with the prospect of aiding to Soccer Aid’s cause and is looking forward to the game later in the summer.
Ranieri said: “Soccer Aid is a fantastic event, raising money for an amazing children’s charity in Unicef.
“For Soccer Aid’s 10th anniversary, it is a great honour that Robbie Williams has asked me to manage the Rest of the World XI and I’m looking forward to helping them defend their title.”
With Mourinho tipped to be the next Man United manager following Louis Van Gaal, we could see an official announcement from the Red Devils even before this one-off match for Unicef.
Confirmed or not, we can expect an electric atmosphere inside Old Trafford where the crowd will most definitely be rooting for Jose Mourinho’s side as many of the United fans already see him as their next manager.
