Super Agent Jorge Mendes has been far from his best when it comes to breaking successful deals for Manchester United. In recent times, likes of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao have walked through the doors of Old Trafford and failed miserably. So much so, the duo were shipped out of the club the follow season after their transfer.
Mendes was even blamed for trying to push David De Gea to Real Madrid in the summer, only for the player to remain with the Red Devils after a deadline day calamity. Mendes is looking to rebuild his relationship with Manchester United and his gift to Louis Van Gaal is the Colombian James Rodriguez. The gifted playmaker was exceptional for Real Madrid managing to score 17 goals and 18 assists in the first 12 months of his move to Bernabeu, however, with Rafa Benitez in charge, James has failed to seal the starting Xi place this season.
James, who was crowned with the Golden Boot award at World Cup 2014 is not ready to fight for a place in Benitez’s starting XI and is looking for a move elsewhere. According to the trust news source Fichajes, Mendes is keen on bringing James Rodriguez to Manchester United. The Special Agent sees Van Gaal’s team as the ideal fit for James as they are craving for a proper number 10 player with the Colombian being one of the very best in that position.
According to Daily Star, United are readying a humongous 80million package to lure the Colombian at Old Trafford with Mendes already having a talk with James regarding the transfer. The deal is expected to go through next summer and despite the continuous link-ups with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United could yet make a swoop for Real Madrid’s most effective player in last few months – James Rodriguez.
