Jurgen Klopp does not want to hand Joe Allen an extended run in his Liverpool team and has indicated that he might have to seek a move away from Anfield to get regular football. Ever since his £15million move from Swansea, Allen has failed to establish himself as a Liverpool player. He has only completed 90 minutes thrice and has never played more than 27 games in a complete season.
Allen has been troubled with injuries ever since his move from Swansea and when all player fit, he isn’t the automatic choice to start for Liverpool. One other reason that goes against Allen is his playing style, he is not a kind of player who would fit in to Klopp’s full-throttle mold of football.
Klopp was not in a pleasant mood after Southampton draw where the manager criticized his players for wasting his time and also warned fans to remain patient if they want to see success on the pitch as he is no magician.
With the news of Allen seeking a January move, According to Daily Star, three Premier League clubs (Stoke, Southampton and Leicester) have expressed their interest in signing the central midfield player in January. Klopp had promised to assess every player before making a decision on their future. However, so far, Allen has played just 54 minutes under the new manager.
Allen was hooked at half time against Rubin Kazan in the Europa League, and was not featured at all in the game against Southampton. Liverpool face Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup Round of 16 tomorrow and it could be Allen’s last chance to impress the new manager.
