Arsenal are in pole position to sign crafty playmaker Isco from Real Madrid in January, according to reports from the local journal Diario Madrista.
According to the reports, Isco has been asked to find a new club in January with Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham all interested in his signing.
Despite having the talent, the Spaniard has failed to establish a regular starting XI role under Zinedine Zidane and is on the verge of quitting Real Madrid during the upcoming transfer window.
Isco fancies a move to Arsenal as he sees a lot of similarities between his playing style and Arsenal’s swift pass and move style of play.
Isco regards Mesut Ozil as one of his favorite players and wants to emulate what the German has done since moving to Premier League.
A title deciding transfer?
Arsenal are hoping to bring in Isco ahead of the other potential suitors as it would give them the advantage in this season’s title race.
Gunners have started the season brightly but have often lost their focus during the festive period as their squad isn’t big enough to deal with matches coming in thick and fast.
However with a quality player like Isco coming in January will boost Wenger’s chances of winning that illusive Premier League title and bow out on a high.
On the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino would look to use his contact with the player during their days with Espanyol as a pull to bring the 24-year-old playmaker to White Hart Lane next year.
