Louis Van Gaal sounded rather upbeat following his team’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea. He went on to add that what he saw from his players tonight gives him no reason to resign and he is fully confident that United board will not fire him either.

This perhaps should bring an end to all the media hype that has surrounded the club in last few weeks where Van Gaal is expected to leave after every single game.

However, one cannot look beyond the fact that this was United’s 8th game in a row where there have failed to win a match. This did not stop Van Gaal from making the following statements after the game while speaking with BT Sports.

Van Gaal said: “I thank my players for the performance. It gives a lot of hope for the fans.
You’ve seen that the players are fighting for me. I am fully confident in the board and my players.

“There is no reason to resign, maybe the media wants that, but I shall not do that. My relationship with the players, staff and board is very good. There is no reason to sack me.”

With these comments, Van Gaal has once again thrown the ball in to Ed Woodward’s corner and asked him to declare his decision. As Van Gaal is clearly not resigning so will Manchester United have the guts to fire him? We shall see it unfold in next 24-48 hours.
