The reigning World Cup Champions will look to assert their dominance over European football, when they go out to fight for the Euro 2016 glory this summer. In terms of talent, Germany are perhaps the best team in Europe right now, which we can understand by gazing at their 23-man squad for the Euros.
Manager Joachim Loew will have a tough task in picking his starting XI which he thinks will be good enough to go all the ways at Euro 2016. With Euros just a week away from kicking-off, we take a look at three things to expect from Germany’s Euro 2016 campaign.
Stability in defense and midfield
Germany will have the luxury of picking Manuel Neuer in goal, Mats Hummels and Philippe Lahm in defense while Toni Kross, Ilkay Gundogan and Sami Khedira are expected to marshal the midfield.
On paper, it cannot get any better than this for any team and Loew will bank on these players to get the results in France later this summer.
There is one aspect about Germany’s playing style which is eye-catchy is their relentless attack. Likes of Mesut Ozil, Toni Kroos and Mario Gotze are known to supply telling balls to their attackers and their pace going forward will be their biggest weapon at the Euro 2016.
Thomas Muller to be the main man
If there is one aspect which experts are having doubts about Germany’s squad at the Euros, is their lack of a goal-scoring striker. Mario Gomez is an option, but he is in his decline and cannot be expected to fire goals for fun.
Same is the case with Lukas Podolski, however, Germany do have a lethal goal-scoring option in Thomas Muller who knows his way towards the goal. Muller is efficient in the air and his movements are as good as anyone in Europe and he is expected to be Germany’s most lethal striking option at the Euros.
