Arsenal find themselves in a favorable position after it appeared that they are getting closer to agree a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain this summer which would see Olivier Giroud move to Napoli.
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sports, Gunners see Higuain as the best fit to put them in a title winning position next season. Although the Argentine striker’s release clause is a monstrous €94million but Gunners believe that a €60m + Giroud offer would see the deal go through.
Arsenal have been given positive vibes for completing the deal after Higuain’s agent and brother came out questioning Napoli’s approach over the new contract. In an interview, Nicolas said: “Napoli weren’t correct in their approach in our meeting and we will not renew his contract.”
Despite Napoli’s stubborn approach over Higuain’s sale, Arsenal’s offer is the most substantial one they have received this summer and could consider it over the next few days. Atletico Madrid, PSG and Chelsea are the other potential suitors for Higuain’s signing this summer.
Chances of Higuain signing for Arsenal – 2/5
On the face of it, Higuain will be the best striker option to arrive at Emirates this summer. He is a natural goal scorer and rarely misses a chance (at club level, its different for Argentina) and can potentially fire Arsenal to Premier League glory next season.
The reported €94million transfer fee will need to be discussed at length as Arsenal will not give in to Napoli’s demands that easily. Despite the difficult nature of this transfer Gunners fans could rejoice seeing the back of Giroud and replacing him with a striker of Higuain’s caliber.
