Former Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah has said former club Chelsea was all in the past now after receiving his first call up to England squad for their World Cup qualifying matches.

The Midfielder joined Watford from the Stamford Bridge outfit in a deal worth £5 million this summer and has made impressive starts so far this season at the Vicarage Road.

England manager Gareth Southgate, must have been pleased with his performance for his new club in the Premier League, calling him up in his 28-man squad for Malta and Slovakia World Cup qualifying matches.

Chalobah joined the Blues, at the age of 10, but could only manage one Premier League start for the Premier League Champions. Before deciding to join Watford, he was loaned to the Vicarage road in 2012/2013 season and was later loan to five other clubs, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli.

The England Midfielder was handed his Chelsea debut under the reign of the Blues Manager Antonio Conte last season and went on impressing and made 15 more appearance in total across all competitions under the Italian Manager.

Like former teammates, Chalobah was also handed a new deal at Stamford Bridge, but unlike others, rejected it as he wants more playing time to cap for his Country while also insisting that he has no grudge against his former employers.

“Everyone knows Chelsea is very difficult,” he said at a press conference.

“Chelsea is a world-class club with world-class players, it was difficult for me to get in the team. As always I tried to stay focused and concentrated. Chelsea is in the past now.”

The 22 year old became the first Watford player, after John Barnes 34 years ago, to get an International England call up.
