Reports in the English media suggest that Arsenal defender, Hector Bellerin has set his sights on a move away from the 13-time English champions after meeting with manager, Arsene Wenger.
The 22-year-old Spanish international has been the subject of a long term chase by Barcelona who feel their former youth product is the perfect replacement for Daniel Alves, who left the club last summer after failing to agree personal terms.
Mundo Deportivo, a Spanish publication report that Bellerin met with manager, Wenger twice last week about his decision to leave the club but that the manager refused to let him go, and told him that he is a major part of his plans going into next season.
La Liga giants, Barcelona are keen to sign their former La Masia graduate, who made the switch to The Emirates as part of the Cesc Fabregas deal in 2011.
Wenger, who signed a 2-year extension to his current deal with the North London outfit is known to be a huge admirer of Bellerin and will fight tooth and nail to keep the player who recently participated in the just concluded European U21s Championships.
Bellerin signed a new five year deal late last year, meaning that Arsenal are in a position of strength regarding the transfer. Since Daniel Alves departed the Camp Nou, the Blaugrana have struggled to find a replacement as Aleix Vidal has struggled to impose himself and Sergi Roberto isn’t a natural right sided defender.
Bellerin is a pacy defender known for his determination, grit and offensive ability. He broke into the Arsenal team in 2015, and is now a firm fixture in the first team, making 114 appearances, acting 4 goals. He will have to force through a £40m exit should he want to sign for his boyhood club.
