Eden Hazard has lifted the lid that he did not enjoy playing football last season because he was constantly in pain throughout the 2015/16 campaign.
Hazard suffered a horrible season under Jose Mourinho where he could only score 6 goals after a 19-goal season which saw Chelsea win the title and Hazard win PFA player of the year.
There were constant talks of Hazard falling out with Mourinho but as it turns out, it was his injury concern which prevented him from playing at his 100%.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Guardian, Hazard said: “I’m playing without pain.
“Last year was complicated. Some people didn’t believe it, but I played with an injury [he points at his hip] for a long time.
“I was never 100 per cent, and when you’re not completely fit it’s hard to play at your best.
“But I had a good break after the Euros, a good pre-season, and was ready.
“Liberated, yes. It feels like that sometimes, being injury-free and if a system brings the best out of you.”
Hazard has already started the 2016/17 season brightly scoring 7 league goals for Chelsea. That form saw him get the Premier League player of the month award for October.
