Guss Hiddink delivers positives Injury Update ahead of FA Cup tie vs. Everton

Chelsea travel to the Goodison Park for an FA Cup Quarter Final tie vs. Everton which could be the only option for the Blues to win a trophy this season. Ahead of the match, fans have bee

Speaking ahead of the cup game, Hiddink admitted star player Eden Hazard’s father’s claims that the loss of form his son has seen this season was because he was being played through a pain barrier.

Hiddink admitted that it was not totally untrue and explained that Hazard is desperate to play for the club.

Hiddink said: “He is not absent of injury. That has an influence on the freshness and the worries are there”

“He will be OK and available. He’s desperate to participate in the team performance.”

Hazard was also involved in an incident where he was booed by the crowd at the Stamford Bridge for exchanging jerseys with PSG star Angel di Maria.

The Dutch manager was also asked about Hazard’s decision to swap shirts at half-time, and added: ‘He swapped shirts with Di Maria. I don’t want to overvalue that, because in some countries, more south, it is a habit to do so.

He went on to explain that it was not something that is to be made an issue of and added that he will talk to the player after the press conference.

‘It is my own explanation, but I will of course be seeing him this afternoon,” he added.

Hiddink speaks ahead of Everton clash

The Belgian was forced off in the later stages of the game against PSG but the manager revealed that he is fit to play in this game against Everton.

The interim boss was also pleased to confirm that John Terry is back in the squad after finally overcoming a hamstring injury that’s kept him on the sidelines for the past five games.

The Blues skipper has been able to train fully for the past two days and Hiddink says the centre-back is now considered fit and available for selection this weekend.

Diego Costa was also substituted at Stamford Bridge in midweek after aggravating a hip injury that kept him out of last Saturday’s clash with Stoke and Hiddink says he’ll make a late decision over the striker’s availability against Everton.

It was reported that Chelsea are in advanced talks with Italy international coach Conte to lead the side next season and when asked about his appointment as the manager for the next season, Hiddink said that it is important that the club takes a quick decision.

The FA Cup game is scheduled to kick-off at 5:30 pm GMT on Saturday.

Hiddink says Chelsea can begin preparations for next term as soon as the appointment is announced.

“It is best for all parties to do it as soon as possible, so we can plan for next season,” he said.”
