Arsenal spoil Chelsea and Manchester United’s plans by going after Griezmann

Arsenal left it late in the recent summer transfer window to sign Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi to build a formidable squad at Emirates to challenge for this season’s league title.

However, Gunners may not be done in terms of their heavy spending. According to reports from Daily Star, Antoine Griezmann could be the next big money signing for Arsenal after Arsene Wenger has earmarked the Atletico forward as his number one signing next summer.

Daily Star claims, Arsenal have decided to join Chelsea and Manchester United in chase to sign Griezmann and Wenger believes he has an edge over his rival Premier League teams.

Over the years, Griezmann has expressed his fondness for Wenger and how he would like to work under the Frenchman. Add to that, their French connection is something Wenger is relying to get the deal done.

Griezmann planning for a move away?

Euro 2016’s Player of the tournament parted ways with his agent last week and announced he will handle future deals himself, along with his father Alain and trusted aid Eric Olhats.

According to reports, Griezmann is keen to move away from Atletico and join Premier League after manager Diego Simeone has also decided to quit the club at the end of next season.

Simeone was the only reason why Griezmann snubbed a concrete interest from Manchester United to stay at Vicente Calderon this season. Arsenal however are hoping that an £80m bid will be enough to bring the French striker to Emirates next summer.
