According to the Sunday Post, the Bhoys are ready to challenge Rangers for Jon Flanagan’s signature in this summer transfer window.
Flanagan was part of the Liverpool team that finished second in the Premier League in 2013-14 where he was, of course, under Brendan Rodgers’ tutelage.
He also played alongside Steven Gerrard, too, so that explains why the Gers want the player in their squad.
Since that season, however, injury and off-pitch issues have seen his career suffer a decline and the 25-year-old is now a free agent after the expiry of his contract with Liverpool.
Rangers can have a go at him. A few years ago, he would be more than a welcome signing but in recent years, he has failed to even break into Burnley or Bolton’s first team on loan.
He’s not what the Hoops need at this stage and Brendan Rodgers can certainly find better options in this summer transfer window.
