Sunderland has submitted an official loan bid for Celtic starlet Lewis Morgan, as per The Scottish Sun.

Jack Ross wants to reunite with his former St Mirren ace Morgan at Sunderland on a season-long loan deal and he has now made an official move for the player.

But Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wishes to run the rule over Morgan in pre-season and has told Ross that he has to wait until mid-July before finding out whether he can have the winger.

Morgan completed his transfer from St Mirren to Celtic in January but was sent back on loan for the rest of the season where he won the Scottish Championship title and earn his side promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

This, in turn, made Ross get the honour of PFA Scotland manager of the Year and he then joined Sunderland earlier this summer.

The Scotland international, who recently earned his first two senior appearances, won the Scottish Championship Player of the year honour, contributing with several goals and assists for St Mirren.

But with the presence of the likes of Jonny Hayes, Michael Johnston, James Forrest, Scott Sinclair and Ryan Christie in their squad, Celtic may choose to send Morgan out on loan for one more season.
