Juventus are prepared for the exit of first-choice left-back Alex Sandro and have taken their sight off Kieran Tierney, now set on Porto’s Alex Telles, according to UOL Esporte, via Football Italia.
The report suggested that in light of interest from Paris Saint-Germain in luring away Sandro, the Serie A champions have offered 30m euros (£26.8m) for his countryman Telles.
It also claims that Porto is holding out for 40m euros, which is the current release clause in the left-back’s deal who is well experienced in the Italian game after a loan spell with Inter in the 2015/16 season.
Last week, it looked as if popular Bhoys star Tierney was a top target for Juve as a possible replacement for Sandro, with the Daily Record reporting that they were interested in the Scotsman, valued at £30m by Brendan Rodgers.
It is important not to portray Juventus diverting their attention elsewhere as a twist of fate that is cause for Celtic to be relieved.
The Bhoys have been unswerving in their £30m valuation of Tierney and it looks as if Juventus have become the latest richer side sent off after Everton and Manchester United withdrew their interest.
That is a credit to the strength of the club and the way that Rodgers has establish something at Celtic Park that is worth sticking around for, and what a boost keeping Tierney would be for fans and players alike.
