Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem is set to join Dutch side VVV Venlo on loan for the rest of the season, according to reports.

Zelalem has made two appearances for the Gunners this season, both in the EFL Cup, and has struggled to make an impression in Arsene Wenger’s squad behind the likes of Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla, amongst others.

There had been talk of a potential permanent transfer away from Arsenal, with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund supposedly interested, but the 19-year-old is instead set to join Eerste Divisie side Venlo in the second tier of Dutch football, according to De Telegraaf via the Sun.

Zelalem, who has played international football for both the United States and Germany’s youth teams, spent last season on loan at Scottish club Rangers and is ready to attempt to kickstart his career with a loan move to Holland.
