Chelsea could make the move to sign Christian Benteke as they bid to add more firepower to their final third, according to report from Express.

The Blues boss Antonio Conte has not found it interesting in the transfer market this summer. And with Diego Costa exiting the club and top target Romelu Lukaku heading to Manchester United, he has been left frustrated at many failed attempts to sign their targets.

The Everton forward has been on the radar of Chelsea, with a return to Stamford Bridge said to be on the cards this summer, but a breakdown in transfer fee appeared to have paved the way for United to snap him up.

The Reds are reported to have agreed a £75 million deal for Belgian international who is having his medicals in Los Angeles.

And as reported by the Telegraph, the Premier League champions who had also showed interests in Alvaro Morata, Alexis Sanchez and Torino’s Andrea Bellotti, has now turned to Benteke.

Conte reportedly wants to sign the Crystal Palace hitman as a back-up to the marquee striker the Italian manager would still sign.

Benteke, Lukaku’s Belgium team-mate, scored 15 league goals last season in his debut season for Palace, following his £27 million- which also include £5 million in add-ons- move from Liverpool last summer.

However, Chelsea may need to fork out more than that as Benteke may not come cheap due to his importance to Frank de Bore’s side.
