There seem to be a new rivalry in England that is not gaining attention. It is what is going on between Leicester City and West Ham. Although the two clubs are in different cities, there seems to be lot they share now.
Leicester fail to allow Islam Slimani join the Hammers last winter transfer and now the two clubs are about to go head to head for another player.
Manchester City’s Patrick Roberts is the subject of transfer tussle between the clubs now as the 21-year-old is set to leave Etihad stadium. Leicester had earlier made enquiries about Roberts and was willing to take him as part of the deal if Riyad Mahrez was going to move to Manchester City on last day of the winter window.
Now the deal is off the table, both West Ham and Leicester will have to battle for the 21-year-old who is valued at around £15m. Roberts is currently enjoying a good loan spell at Celtic, where he caught everyone’s attention include clubs in French league, according to reports in the Sun.
When he was about leaving Fulham in the summer of 2015, West Ham made attempt to sign him but missed out to Manchester City. The Citizens have since loaned him out to Celtic and now the Hammers will have to rival Leicester to get his signature for a higher fee than that time.
Roberts is a very versatile player as he can play in either side of the attack and he is also a very pacey player which makes him very suitable to play in England.
