Manchester United and Jose Mourinho were rocked for the second time in less than a week after Dutch side Feyenoord beat them 1-0 in their opening game of Europa League campaign.
Midfielder Tonny Vilhena scored the only goal of the match on 79th minute as Man United once again looked short of match sharpness.
Derby defeat against Manchester City was expected to be a kick up their back side however, Jose Mourinho was left looking for more answers after most of his players had a night to forget in Rotterdam.
Following a dismal performance from The Red Devils, we take a look at Feyenoord vs Manchester United player ratings featuring another dismal performance from the £89million man – Paul Pogba.
Manchester United player ratings vs Feyenoord
David De Gea – 5.5
Had very little to do on the night but at the most crucial moment, De Gea chose to use his feet instead of hands and Vilhena went past him.
Matteo Darmian – 5.5
The Italian looked in control while going forward but was guilty of over playing and less than clinical passing at times.
Chris Smalling – 6
Perhaps the only real positive for Mourinho on the night was to see Smalling return to the lineup and deliver a commanding display.
Eric Bailly – 5.5
Was dragged out wide for the goal and could not recover in time to prevent the brisk counter attack from Feyenoord.
Marcos Rojo – 4.5
I fail to understand why Mourinho decided to keep him and then play him tonight. He always looks ready to commit an error and it was no different tonight.
Morgan Schneiderlin – 6
A steady debut under Mourinho for the Frenchman where he attempted 60 passes with 92% accuracy, made 4 interceptions and won 2 aerial duels.
Ander Herrera – 5.5
Looked lively in first half but faded away as the game wore on. He was guilty of passing backwards on number of occasions when United need to push on.
Paul Pogba – 4.5
Not good enough from the world’s most expensive player of all time. Seemed as if the criticism got to him as he looked determined to keep hold of the ball and take shots from impossible angles. Not good enough at all.
Juan Mata – 5
Tried too many things but nothing seemed to work for Mata before he was hooked near the hour mark.
Anthony Martial – 5
Another pale performances this season from Martial as he looked a mere shadow of what we saw from him last season. Was weak in his take-ons and never looked like troubling the opposing defense.
Marcus Rashford – 5.5
He made runs down the channel but with very little support. Service was not there for him to have any impact on the match.
Substitution: Memphis (4), Zlatan (5.5), Young (4.5)
