Explained – Why Marouane Fellaini was given his one-year Manchester United extension

Jose Mourinho surprised everyone related to Manchester United when he offered Marouane Fellaini an extra 1 year contract to stay with the club.

Fans are still in shock with the decision and are unable to see the real reason behind Mourinho’s decision.

However, United supporters need to be told that Fellaini was about to enter in final 6 months of his United contract and was in danger of leaving the club on a free in coming months.

Although, Mourinho is a big fan of the dedication and worth ethic Fellaini has shown despite being booed by the fans but the Special One is keen to get the best deal possible for Fellaini when the time comes to sell him.

Credit must be given to Fellaini

With everything said and done, credit must be given to Marouane Fellaini for sticking by to his determination to do well for Manchester United as he has now played under 3 different managers and won their trust.

David Moyes brought him to the club, Louis Van Gaal preferred Fellaini to Ander Herrera and Jose Mourinho has also developed a liking for the Belgian given his unconventional style of play.

Although the United fans may not like Fellaini but the lanky midfielder has certainly earned his new one-year contract and with a goal against Hull City in EFL Cup Semi Final leg 1, things could get better for Fellaini in remaining weeks of the season.
