Radamel Falcao is all set to be handed a third chance to save his sinking career. Fortunately for Chelsea fans, that chance will not come from Stamford Bridge. According to reports, AS Monaco are willing to keep Falcao with them next season.
This sensational news has been backed by The Independent, who claim that Falcao has been guaranteed Champions League football next season by Monaco’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev.
Falcao is currently out of action due to a cruciate ligament injury and looks set to spend remainder of the season on Chelsea bench. Alexandre Pato’s arrival has made it even harder for the Colombian to get a look in to Guus Hiddink’s starting XI.
After failing to impress with Manchester United and Chelsea, Monaco are keen to gamble on their forgotten hero, who is still on staggering wages of £300k-a-week.
Speaking on Falcao’s future, Vasilyev told RMC: “We thought about bringing him back in January, but he was injured. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. We won’t exclude the possibility of him coming back to the club in the summer.”
One must say, Falcao is a really lucky player. Not often teams put their trust in a crooked player, and unfortunately in recent seasons, Falcao has been more of a liability than a distant asset for the clubs he has played for.
While Falcao is guaranteed to play in Champions League next season while Chelsea looks certain to miss out on Europa League action as well, one can only imagine what Chelsea fans must be going thorough right now.
