Coming in to the game against Everton, Manchester United needed to win tonight in order to keep their top 4 hopes alive and so they did. Anthony Martial was the man to score the winning goal for Manchester United, however, there were plenty of match winners tonight across the pitch for Louis Van Gaal.
David De Gea made a stunning save from Phil Jagielka’s second half strike, while Daley Blind and Chris Smalling kept out Romelu Lukaku’s threat throughout the game. Going forward, Juan Mata’s presence was an assuring one while Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard provided the energy and pace going forward.

Following Marcus Rojo’s injury, Timothy Fosu-Mensah came on and delivered a really mature performance on the night. It was Mensah who played the ball for Martial’s goal and kept out Everton on couple of key occasions.

Man of the Match – Anthony Martial may have scored the winning goal tonight but it was Daley Blind’s impeccable reading of the game which saw Manchester United keep out Everton’s attacking threat.
The Dutchman is still yet to get the recognition as a central defender, but he has quietly gone ahead and be a central figure in Louis Van Gaal’s defense throughout the season.
