Fair to say, Louis Van Gaal’s latest press conference was not up to the usual explosive standards which have come to witness from the Dutchman.
Van Gaal addressed the media ahead of Sunderland clash where he discussed the growing injury concerns at Old Trafford. He also gave latest reports on Bastian Schweinsteiger’s absence from the club.
There were obvious questions raised over speculations Jose Mourinho taking over at Manchester United. As expected, Van Gaal was not too kind on the reporter who asked him that question.
LVG on Schweinsteiger: “I cannot say Bastian Schweinsteiger is returning in two weeks. I have given him a holiday.”
LvG on Rojo and Valencia: “They’re coming back and I hope to have them as soon as possible.”
LvG on Carrick contract: “I’m always involved because I’m the manager. I don’t discuss this with you.”
LVG on Lingard and CBJ: LvG on Carrick contract: I am happy with Borthwick-Jackson and Lingard. They have had this chance because of this policy.”
LvG on Memphis: “For him it was good for his confidence. It was good for the fans, the real fans who watch the second team.”
LvG on failure to reach top 4: “That’s not a question for me but the question is for the board. I have a contract for 3 years.
The game this weekend will be a must-win for Man United if they want to pursue their dream of finishing in the top 4 this season. United dropped 2 vital points against Chelsea last weekend after giving away an extra time equalizer.
Van Gaal has looked to avoid direct criticisms surrounding his future at the club, but he no longer can shy away from the obvious criticism and talks of new man coming in to replace him next season.
