Manchester United still have plenty of injury scares to deal with but still Van Gaal would look to put out his strongest team in a game of great importance to him. Ideally, he could also be inclined towards making a tactical change by going with a 4-4-2 formation.

What needs to change for Manchester United?

Morgan Schneiderlin has been a massive part of United’s success since his move from Southampton. In a surprising decision, Van Gaal has decided to bench him despite fully recovered from an injury. His presence in the midfield will be key for United, if they want to stop the likes of Bojan, Shaqiri and Arnautovic tonight.

Similarly, Ander Herrera always makes something happen when he is on the pitch. His inclusion on the pitch gives United mobility going forward and a good chance of creating and scoring goals.

Anthony Martial was bought to score goals and that is how he should be used as he and Rooney will have the responsibility to play as strikers up top. Van Gaal needs a result and this 4-4-2 team can be the best and perhaps the only way of doing that.
