Tottenham go in to their crucial weekend’s game against Liverpool on the back on some positive team news with Toby Alderweireld all set to start the game after a stomach flu had scared the Spurs fans.

Jan Vertonghen is nearing full fitness as well and he will be in contention to be a part of Tottenham’s squad for the game against Liverpool. While Spurs will have a near full-squad to chose from, same cannot be said about Liverpool.

The Reds will be missing as many as five crucial players including the in-form Roberto Firmino and the £32million striker Christian Benteke.

The news has been confirmed by Liverpool Echo, who revealed that the duo missed today’s training and are doubtful for the weekend’s clash against the title chasing Spurs.

According to Liverpool Echo, Divock Origi is also doubtful despite taking part in today’s training, however, Alberto Moreno and Lucas Leiva continue to be ruled out due to injuries.

Manager Jurgen Klopp will have one eye on Europa League encounter vs. Borussia Dortmund next Thursday and might be tempted to rest some of the key players.

Realistically, Liverpool cannot achieve anything great from Premier League this season, however, Europa League is their only hope of winning a trophy and play the Champions League football next season.

Keeping that in mind, we might see a competitive but less than first choice Liverpool squad this weekend against Spurs. As for Tottenham, they need to win the game at all cost to ensure Leicester are under some pressure when they play Southampton on Sunday evening.
