Done deal: Chelsea officially complete another transfer deal, ace all smile holding club shirt

The news about Chelsea letting their young players going out on loan doesn’t come as a surprise again after several young academy players are released yearly to play outside the Bridge. The latest of them is Ike Ugbo.

The 18-years-old striker will be joining Barnsley on a year loan deal, according to report. The deal was confirmed by the Championship side on their official website, as well as via their official Twitter account.

The youngster is a graduate of Chelsea’s academy, having broken through the youth ranks and into their under-23 side last summer.

The young striker had a good campaign last season at both youth and reserve level, as he hit 23 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, including 11 strikes as Chelsea finished fifth in the top tier of the Premier League 2, the professional development league.

His outstanding performance did not go unnoticed as he was called to the England Under-20 squad for the annual Toulon Tournament. Ugo played twice in the tournament and score the lone goal for England against Angola.

Ugo is expected to be a key member of Barnsley as the club hope to push for a promotion into the Premier League and improve their 14th place finish last season. Ugo is expected to take the place of Sam Winnall who left for Sheffield Wednesday back in January.
