Chelsea have officially announced the signing of former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero on a free transfer, according to report from ESPN.
The experienced goalkeeper is the blues first transfer signing in the current window and joined after his contract run down at the end of June at the Ethihad stadium.
The 35-years-old veteran during his interview with Chelsea’s website said : “I am very happy to join Chelsea, the champions of England. I am looking forward to meeting the guys and helping the club achieve more success in the coming season.
The experienced goalie started last season as second choice behind Cladio Bravo ended as the number one stopper after the later was dropped to the bench for his errors. He won the premier league and the capital one cup during his three years stay at the Etihad stadium.
Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo, said: ‘We are happy to have Willy on board. He knows the premier league and he is tried and tested at the top of the game. We have three experienced goalkeepers and we look forward to welcoming him to the club when the squad returns to pre-season training.’
Chelsea are expected to make more signings with players like Tiemoue Bakayoko expected to join before the close of the transfer market.
However, I don’t personally think this will be the last player Chelsea will be bring to West London this term as they look very interested in signing some big name in order to Challenge for a better player in next season’s Champions League competition.
