Done deal: BBC officially confirms Chelsea announce transfer for highly-rated ace

Chelsea have signed French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco for a fee of around £40m, according to report from BBC.

The 22-years-old signed a 5 years contract till the summer of 2022. Bakayoko joining Chelsea makes him their second outfield player joining this summer after Antonio Rudiger joined from Roma.

Tiemoue Bakayoko who scored against Manchester City in last season’s Champions League round of 16 will be hoping to help Chelsea retain the Premier league. The star spent three years at Monaco after joining from local rivals Rennes in 2014.

His stellar performance made him to be called to the French national team. He made his debut against former world champion Spain in a friendly match in March this year.

Bakayoko played an influential part in Monaco’s champions league outing before losing out in the semifinals to Juventus. His role in winning the Ligue 1 title cannot be undermined.

Bakayoko was so delighted to have signed for Chelsea. He said:

“I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood.

I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach [Antonio Conte] and alongside so many great team-mates.”

The addition of Rudiger and Bakayoko to the Chelsea squad will send a strong signal to other teams about their intent to retain the league. The Blues defensive midfield with Kanté and Bakayoko will be a scary one to go through next season.
