According to recent reports, Everton manager Marco Silva is determined to convince Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha on a move to Goodison Park before the transfer window slams shut on August 9, and Celtic should keep a close watch on the situation. The report further stated that the Portuguese boss is desperate to acquire the signature of the talented attacker, whose current paycheck is £100,000-a-week, but he is finding it hard to lure the Ivory Coast international away to the Merseyside.

The report stated that Zaha was not content with his previous spell up north with Manchester United and is not in a hurry to return, but Silva may not take no for an answer as he wants to sign the 25-year-old to lead his new-look attack during the forthcoming campaign.

He would be in contention with the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Theo Walcott, Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic, rated £7.2m by the Transfermarkt, for a place in the starting XI if he did sign for Everton, but the report adds that the Eagles are unwilling to let him go and are ready to offer him a new £125,000-a-week deal to convince him to stay.

Well, with Patrick Roberts and Charly Musonda returning to Manchester City and Chelsea respectively following unsuccessful loan spells and with a temporary deal for Liverpool’s Harry Wilson seeming to be making no headway, Brendan Rodgers, who should also look to sign an attacker who shone alongside Scott Sinclair under his tutelage, will likely be increasing his effort to sign a new winger to Celtic Park.

Should Everton seal a deal for Zaha, it is likely that Vlasic could be the one that exit – probably on loan – before the transfer window closes in order to play regularly next season – a feat he failed to achieve last season.

While he did make 19 appearances in all competitions, the 20-year-old looked as though he was still adapting to English football with starts largely hard to come by, and a move to Parkhead to showcase his talents could be a good idea for all parties involved.
