Chelsea striker Diego Costa was taken to hospital after injuring his shin during the 3-3 draw against Everton.
Costa was replaced on the 80th minute by Loic Remy. The last 10-15 minutes of the game saw Everton take the lead and then John Terry stepping up with a 98th minute equalizer.
The news was confirmed by Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, who said that Costa was in a lot of pain and will be closely assessed by the club’s medical staff in coming days.
Speaking on the Costa’s injury, Hiddink said: “He’s in the hospital and he will have a scan. We don’t know the result yet and I hope it’s not bad. It’s on his shin. He was in a lot of pain, that’s true.”
Costa in danger to miss Arsenal game
Costa was on the mark tonight after the Spaniard netted a crucial goal to launch Chelsea’s comeback after going 2-0 down.
It was his goal, which started the comeback for Hiddink’s men and it indeed was not a surprise to see Chelsea go behind soon after Costa was taken off the pitch.
The Spaniard has played well in recent weeks and that is why, his injury will be a major concern for Chelsea, as it did not seem like he will be fit in time to face Arsenal next weekend.
Given how, Chelsea need results, Hiddink needed his talisman for a visit to Premier League leaders next weekend. Chelsea fans will hope for a speedy recovery for their striker as they hope to see the Blues pull themselves out of the relegation battle as soon as possible.
