That seems to be the situation on ground as the France midfielder Paul Pogba is set for a whooping six-figure increase on his current contract at United.
The 24-year-old returned to Old Trafford after four successful years with Italian champion Juventus in a world record deal worth £89 million last summer.
Unexpectedly he was under pressure to perform due to his transfer fee. But he failed to replicate the form that made United part with such a huge amount to sign him, though he showed glimpses of what he is capable of, if he finally settles in.
And Pogba who is currently on £165,000-per-week will receive an increase of £100,000-per-week, in relation to the adds-on in the five-year deal he signed with the Red Devils last summer.
A United source said:
“Paul will receive around £500,000-a-week extra as part of the increase. It came into play earlier this month. He earns his basic wage but that’s topped up with a lot of adds- on. “As part of his agreement he is at the forefront of the highest earners, it was to help lure him back to the club.”
His consistent form is yet to be guaranteed, however United are apparently not bothered by that as the increase took effect at the beginning of this month and could rise to £500,000 per week.
