It is now official that Manchester United academy goalkeeper Dean Henderson has extended his loan spell at Stockport County. This was announced by Manchester United on their website.
The 18-year-old initially joined the semi-professional National League North side in January for one month but that has now been extended for a further month.
The highly rated United academy product made five appearances in just one month with Stockport and will have the opportunity to adding to that number.
A United statement read:
“Dean Henderson has extended his stay at Stockport County for another month and he celebrated with a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw at Bradford Park Avenue.”
Henderson favoured a move to United ahead of other top clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle when he was just 14-years-old but has hasn’t make his under 21 debut yet. He was nominated as the club’s young player award last season.
Academy goalkeeping coach Alan Fettis has claimed that the former England Under-17 goalkeeper is capable of becoming the best in the future.
“His attitude towards training and games is always first class. He’s part of a good group of goalkeepers and they work hard with each other, pushing themselves, as they’re all at a good standard with different strengths and weaknesses.”
