Deal concluded as confirmed by Irish manager

Brendan Rodgers has admitted he is keen to see Dedryck Boyata sign a new deal with the Scottish champions.

And the Celtic boss stressed the Belgian international central defender is crucial to his future plans.

Rodgers said: “He is very important. I always said that once he got into the team, Dedryck would do very well.

“He is an experienced player and his experience at the World Cup is only going to help him.

“He has a year left on his contract and he is a player that we would love to keep. He knows that, but he is now on holiday and we will pick that up again when he comes back.

“I haven’t spoken to him yet, we have messaged each other and he knows my feelings on it.

“He just needs to rest and recover and we will speak when he gets back.”
