Mikey Johnston has a big decision to make over the coming weeks.

The teenager won the hearts of many Celtic fans with his last two performance, in the Scott Brown testimonial and Saturday’s friendly against Standard Liege.

Johnston scored Celtic’s fourth goal against the Belgian team but was relegated to the sideline against Alashkert.

The teenager’s talent is evident for all to see but the season ahead is vital to his development with the big question being where will better suited to further hone his skills.

Brendan Rodgers has several attacking options to choose from but a loan move must be selected carefully to ensure that he gets enough game time and experience needed to return ready to earn a spot in the first-team.

The bhoy from Stepps would be glad to become a regular at Parkhead but will weigh things up carefully – in discussion with his manager.

“I’m not sure how far away I am from being involved regularly,” Johnston told The Sun. “I’m still young, but it’s all about getting games now, so we’ll see what happens.

“Last season I had a taste of it, but I also had a thigh injury which kept me out for three months. That stunted my progress because I’d been hoping for more at that time.

“That was disappointing, but you can’t let it affect you because you need to come back raring to go.

“Hopefully, I can break through this year, but if not there are other options.

“If this isn’t my year I’ll need to go somewhere else to play. I’ll see what the gaffer thinks.”

Johnston has been linked with a loan move to Hibs as part of a deal for John McGinn.
