Spanish striker Diego Costa has agreed to make the return to Atletico Madrid this summer as he edges closer to exiting the Stamford Bridge.
The forward had last summer wanted a return to the La Liga club where he spent four years before joining Chelsea in 2014, but was prevailed upon by Antonio Conte to stay for another season.
And now sources closed to him have revealed that 28-year-old has agreed personal terms to rejoin the Diego Someone’s side, this is according to Spanish media outlet AS.
The source also claim Costa wants both clubs to agree on a transfer fee as soon as possible so as to complete his move to the Vicente Calderon this summer.
Atletico Madrid have reportedly submitted a bid above £26 million for the 28-year-old but Chelsea feel they should get more than that and are holding out for a higher amount.
The forward was instrumental to Chelsea winning the Premier League in 2014/2015 and 2016/2017 seasons finishing as their top scorer on both occasions, but was told via a text message from Conte that his services are not needed at the club next season.
He has scored 58 goals for the Blues and is contracted to them until 2019.
