Darren O’Dea has sent a lovely message to his Dundee United fans ahead of his return to Celtic Park. Former Celtic defender was taken off at half time due to groin injury during the game against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Since the injury, it was widely speculated that the 29-year old might miss the game against his former team, and that is exactly, what has happened. O’Dea will miss the game this evening, however, he did confirm that he will travel with the squad.

O’Dea took to twitter in confirming the news of his absence from the game, but he also said that he will travel with the squad to his former home ground, Parkhead.

While tweeting, O’Dea did not hid his emotion and admitted that it will be weird for him to go that ground, walk around the dressing room area and not play for Celtic or go out on the pitch.

O’Dea played 59 times for Celtic before joining MLS side Toronto FC back in 2012. O’Dea was part of Mumbai City squad in the recently concluded Indian Super League as well. The Irish defender joined Dundee in January earlier this year, and has been a vital member of Dundee’s defense.

He will be a big mis tonight as Dundee need a win to propel their chance of finishing higher in the table. They are currently fifth in the table, while Celtic are comfortably leading the Scottish Premier League with 62 points after 27 games.
