Jose Mourinho is doing everything possible to bring Nemanja Matic to Manchester United this summer, and for that he is even willing to offer Matteo Darmian in exchange to sweeten the deal.
According to reports from Mirror and Sunday People, Mourinho is aware of Conte’s liking for Darmian and how the player fits in to his 3-5-2 system by playing in the left wing-back role.
Darmian joined Manchester United last summer in a £12million deal and after a bright start against Tottenham, the Italian failed to deal with the physical and more robust defending style of Premier League.
Conte meanwhile is sure of Darmian succeeding at Stamford Bridge in the wing-back role and is willing to offer Matic in exchange of his signing.
Conte is keen on signing Radja Nainggolan and N’golo Kante this summer which will see Matic become a surplus to requirement with a move away from the club looking even more likely.
As for Mourinho, he sees Matic as one of the best players in the defensive midfield role and is desperate to sign the Serbian International.
Chances of Darmian-Matic swap deal – 4/5
The sheer desperation from both the managers will eventually see this deal go through this summer. Matic’s drop in form last season has seen a dip in his transfer value and a swap deal with an extra £8-10m may be enough to complete his move to Old Trafford.
In simpler words, Darmian is to Conte what Matic is to Mourinho and a swap deal between the two players could be the best thing for all parties as the two managers will get their preferred players and kick-start the next season on a high.
