Many of the Liverpool fans laughed off the rumours linking Philippe Coutinho with a £45million move to PSG, until now. Brazilian playmaker is currently on Copa Ameria duties with his national team Brazil where he opened up on the lack of trophies at Anfield in recent seasons.
Speaking with a reporter last night, Coutinho said: “I miss winning cups. Copa América is another opportunity for me, because every player dreams of winning cups.”
“Brazil can always count on great players. I can feel the high level during training. I’m surrounded by players who understand me”
While it may come as reading between the lines but any one can understand the subtle hint Coutinho has just dropped on Liverpool supremos. He has been at the club since 2013 and has not won anything to show for his brilliance on the field.
Coutinho, 23 last won FIFA Club World Cup with Inter Milan and has been left empty handed ever since then. New manager Jurgen Klopp did show signs of promise last season but The Reds lost in two cup finals, only to further dampen Coutinho’s spirits.
Chances of Coutinho joining PSG – 3/5
French newspaper Le10 Sports are quite confident of PSG’s interest in Coutinho. They even went ahead and claimed that the French giants have made contact with Coutinho’s representatives and received positive feedback.
Coutinho is young, he is ambitious and PSG could be the right club for him to make a move right now. Having lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, French Champions are determined to assemble a title winning squad at Paris and Coutinho might be the perfect way to start.
Although Liverpool fans would hate me to say this but it is never a good sign if players start speaking up on the lack of trophies out in public. Liverpool may have survived the trophy-drought till now but they need to show promise in order to keep hold or attract some of the best players at Anfield in coming time.
