Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich called an emergency meeting with the club Directors to discuss clubs’s inconsistent start to the 2016/17 season.
Abramovich was surprised with the manner in which Liverpool beat Chelsea and wanted an explanation from the new manager Antonio Conte.
According to The Independent, meeting went until the early hours of Saturday morning where Conte expressed his anguish over the lack of proper signings during the Summer Transfer window.
Chelsea did manage to sign N’Golo Kante, Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso and David Luiz but Conte is still disgusted over the missed opportunities to sign either one of John Stones, Kalidou Koulibaly and Alessio Romagnoli.
Conte has already let everyone know that Luiz was not his preferred signing and he was not even aware that the Brazilian was available during the summer.
On the back of failed transfers and poor results against Swansea and Liverpool, Chelsea need to bounce back against Leicester later tonight in their EFL Cup match or else the pressure will keep rising on the former Juventus and Italy manager.
What was the outcome of this meeting?
According to the sources close to the club one understands that Conte has told Chelsea to keep the funds ready for key transfer signings in January as he does not feel Chelsea’s squad is good enough to take on the other big teams in Premier League this season.
